important figure

Occassionally, we all must stop

to ponder why, oh why,

in all of life, the single most

important figure in someone's life

could be just that - a figure.

And not just a figure, but a number,

a digit, a positive integer,

a whole number... but rational?

This poem makes me think of my really funny Trig. teacher who would love the last line. I thought it was really funny and has the capibility of making think about if the importance of the number of years you've been alive is that important or just plain stupid.I don't know if that was what you were going fo or not, but I still like it either way.
