Growth

Growth

A Poem by Scarlett Snow

But we've shared a past not too long,
And i'll always remember you as someone,
Who taught me how to grow,
  But then cut me down.

This poem was sad, but because I read your About Me, the images I derived from this simple poem were ones of flowers or cherry tress, small and dainty plants. I've had people in my life that I felt help mold me into the person I am today, and I can only imagine how tough it would be to lose someone who was such an integral part of my growing process, of morphing me from a mere sapling to a blossoming tree. I understand the feeling that was conveyed here, and thought it was clever to write the last three words in bold font - really made them stick out. It gave the sadness in the poem an edge, mixing the blue feelings with ones of what I construed to be bitterness and anger. But all of that is part of the process of getting over someone. Writing is an excellent way to experience catharsis, and hopefully writing out your emotions like this helps you work through it all.

I look forward to reading more. :)
