Nothing and nothingness

Nothing and nothingness

A Poem by Scott Carter

My Journey through the great expanse
Restless as I drift from nothingness to nothingness
Rest was always my only purpose
Yet I strove to preserve the nothingness
Every moment a losing battle against time
Today I fight the warrior who cannot be hurt
The warrior who's blade cannot fail
The warrior who's name is death
She thinks me a child afraid of commitment
A boy who prefers whatever nothing doesn't last
She says for some this is easy
I know For me it will be impossible
I haven't much time
Damn time
though my enemy I feel betrayed
I wish we could continue on fighting as children
He fights now like the bloody reality of mankind
He looks in my eyes and sees my fear
I look into his and see nothing
Oh how I long for my nothingness
My sweet nothingness
I long to have treated her better
Only Empty wishes that pass with the time
Until my great enemy sends in his warrior
I wish she brought peace for our final battle
As a gift for our matrimony
Yet she brings only death
