Platonic.

Platonic.

A Poem by Bryan Sefton

You sit across
You smile a lot
Your skin is soft
But it is not
For touching

Your eyes are warm
Inviting? Sure
But telling me
They're only for
Just watching

Yet we two seem
The perfect pair
To those around
Who sit and stare
And then assume

The meal it ends
The bill arrives
We both pay half
And then we rise
And leave the room

I look at you
You seem to be
Within your smile
Imploring me
"Just once, please stay"

I also smile
And take your hand
I tell you that
The meal was grand
And walk away

oh, this scenario I am so familiar with...
A couple times everyone around us thought we would be perfect as lovers rather than just friends.
So, with a couple people, we tried, but then it ended up so awkward.
Better to walk away from the table, and keep the relationship stable.
I like the idea of just watching...much safer.

dearest Chris... Life is a Hand of Poker... Lucky at times and sometimes we are just Friends... enjoying the ambience of a Smile. tenderly, Pat

Excellent - very nicely put together.

Perfectly written how sometimes it's just the hearts but not the mouth that speaks. "I also smile And walk away" That is what seems best.
Good read.

It's not always as it seems from the outside looking in. When I read this is sounded like two members of the lonely hearts club had got together for a night out. Pleasant enough, but no sparks. flying here Bryan. You know platonic friends can be just fine. Nice write. Have a good weekend.

Yes, I suppose a platonic friendship can be a pleasant thing, but we do like to weave a little story.. read more
