Reality that is the world

Reality that is the world

A Poem by Karen Flores

Birds flying free chirping through the air.

Parents arguing in front of children with no care.

Cars screeching to not cross the red light.

Women struggling against men to put up a fight.

Homes turning into strange places no one knows.

Rooms turning into ice, all the warmth into cold.

The sun being blocked by the clouds turning the day dark.

People hating, acting like dogs with no bark.

Words coming out of books to prove something to the world.

Videos changing the minds from unified to swirls.

Newspapers turning the world gray and white.

News stopping the truth and making all the make belief collide.

Teenagers trying to be something they’re not.

Children getting bullied just impatiently looking at the clock.

Workers being fired for defending themselves.

Family members waiting for food to arrive in their shelves.

Students sitting in classrooms hearing lectures so long.

Professors trying to figure out where the material should belong.

Sleepers having dreams and nightmares through the night.

Crowds gathering to hear the stories of those who lost sight.

Mothers drying the sad tears that come out of children eyes.

Fathers trying to hide and turn the truth into lies.

Technology overpowering the eyes of those who daydreamed dreams.

Government taking over and turning smiles into screams.

Yea I know its weird hearing this all combine.

But this is the dream, the truth and the world in my mind.

The world seems to have gone crazy. Your thoughts, as gloomy as they are, are not far off from what others see as well. You just put it into a perspective people can see and relate to.
