Why rodents stare at the sky

Why rodents stare at the sky

A Poem by Nobody.

I always love the coffee here.

Conversation is winter sunshine

splinting the cruel wind-chill fracture.

Her hazel eyes dance like mischievous

children on a busy midday overpass.

I want to lose my shoes and join in.

But, I sit here,

with a cautious smirk,

waiting for inevitable disaster.

Nothing hurts worse

than the instant before

the knockout punch lands.

a cautious one, are you? i quite like this, though it's different from what you write more often... i expect you to join in and race her to the incoming semi, and yet... though, if we're sticking with that analogy, perhaps caution IS the way to go. great work sir :)

the instant before...brilliant metaphorical language and beautifully constructed. As hard as it is to pick a favorite of yours, this is up there

I am always quite taken with your metaphors and sense straightforward yet imaginative way of expressing your feelings. I really liked this one dear ;)

It's been too long (3 days!!) since you've hit us with a poem. I sipped at this one like fine wine and savoured every drop. Delicious.
