Cherry Blossoms

Cherry Blossoms

A Poem by Nobody.

Sea of tragedies swallows the day.

Gasp for regret. Kick at the rabid dogs of the undertow.

Merciless scalpel slices vital organs from our shared vessel,

And carves stone comfort from the worried skyline,
But we stand in the rubble and gore, and roar like our savage past.

And, with shaky tired arms, we hold and refasten

The fallen sky. No refined words can bandage the wound,

So we bleed openly;

Unashamed of the mortality

Which makes Life so precious.

Eventually, light will break the angry clouds.

The cherry blossoms will bloom again.

What is amazing to me is the civility to one another in the light of an overwhelming catastrophe. Haite, Katrina, just about every other natural disaster there is looting and violence and when I watch the coverage of this story...there is none of that. People waiting in line to make a phone call....amazing. So sad and yet so palpably real. Great writing.

Sakura, the Japanese word for Cherry blossoms. I wonder if they were in bloom when this disaster struck.
This is a somber, yet beautiful ode to an incomprehensible tragedy. May the fuel rods get their water...

Yes, cherry blossoms will bloom again. These people, Japan's people take it in stride ... or else hide many emotions. They are so much calmer than i could ever be.
A wonderful poem for Japan and her people.
Let us hope it ends soon and no more radiation is released.
Sorry, got off track.. your poem is lovely and brave.

It is the cherry blossoms in life that we cling to and that give us hope when life is turned so completely upside down. I feel the devastation and the pain in your words, but I also feel the HOPE. Nice work!

Such beauty can never be kept down love! You have mastered the imagery within this so well, always an awe inspiring experience to read you! The blossom, can never fail to deliver, reminds me that beauty can outshine ugliness! xx

Powerful work RG. I avoid the news as every time I see it I just want to weep for them. To see so many suffering with little or no ability to help is crippling on its own. This piece speaks to how their pain effects us all. Well done!
