Cherry Blossoms

Cherry Blossoms

A Poem by Nobody.

Sea of tragedies swallows the day.

Gasp for regret. Kick at the rabid dogs of the undertow.

 Merciless scalpel slices vital organs from our shared vessel,

And carves stone comfort from the worried skyline,
But we stand in the rubble and gore, and roar like our savage past.

And, with shaky tired arms, we hold and refasten

The fallen sky. No refined words can bandage the wound,

So we bleed openly;

Unashamed of the mortality

Which makes Life so precious.

Eventually, light will break the angry clouds.

The cherry blossoms will bloom again.

What is amazing to me is the civility to one another in the light of an overwhelming catastrophe. Haite, Katrina, just about every other natural disaster there is looting and violence and when I watch the coverage of this story...there is none of that. People waiting in line to make a phone call....amazing. So sad and yet so palpably real. Great writing.

Bittersweet S.K., we know they will rise from these ashes to become whole again. The scars will never fade for the survivors I fear.

The descriptions in the beginning paint a dark, ominous picture that brightens and smiles with the conclusion.

'The cherry blossoms will bloom again.' That's a beautiful line full of hope. Beautifully and sensitively written for a truly heartbreaking and horrific situation.

Very nicely done given the situation. Aggressive, and honest with that little note at the end.

The entire tragedy brings to mind the words of John Donne: 'No man is an island...every man's death diminishes me'.
Your words bring that home, that we, mere spectators from other parts of the world, feel the pain and loss as if it were our own.
A great and timeous tribute, written in your own unique way.

Cherry Blossoms are beautiful. The word play off other words
was great, and such a visual they portrayed. For example
these lines:Sea of tragedies swallows the day.
Merciless scalpel slices vital organs from our shared vessel,
And carves stone comfort from the worried skyline,

So we bleed openly;
Unashamed of the mortality
Through tragedy, there is still life.
