Coffer

Coffer

A Poem by Seriana
"

She told me to write, scribble my thoughts. Here they are.

"

Coffer

A silent box sits upon a shadowed shelf,

in the corner of a forsaken room.

Dust swirls reluctantly,

floating in fiery rays of the new-day sun,

peeking through the thick folds of fabric heavily laden with the secrets of time.

The box contains a keyhole.

The key?

Long but forgotten to the owner...rests.

Perhaps somewhere in the chaotic corners of time,

it, too, lies in a tepid pile of dust.

The girl has forgotten the box,

its key,

its meaning.

Its contents lost in the confines of her minds fortress.

Treasures buried beneath treasures,

assurances and hope,

rewards,

memories of happy moments,

dreams and love.

Love....

timed love,

cherished love.

The girl has forgotten.

Pain lies atop the treasures.

Hurt,

regret,

mistakes

Loss.

These things pad the truth,

Keep the treasures safe.

For a time.

And so....it will stay.

Buried in a box.

The box without its key.

The key mixed with dust.

Somewhere.....in the silence of forgotten time.

Had a feeling that by the end of this poem. 'would be feeling so much for and about you, your past and enduring thoughts, Seriana. This is such an intensely personal write, hints of this or that, plus - even if anyone knew a little more, nobody can feel as you do.

As always you've somehow used delicate phrasing with emotional emphasis Tis your way.. Keep safe and so much more. Hugs.

How your words open a world of mystery... the soul's treasures, lost in time. It did make me wonder how many have such a box... locked away... key covered in dust... sweet moments hidden forever... May you always keep your box close... your joy accessible... your treasures embraced so you feel their fullness. Beautiful confessions, dear poet. So good to have more poetry flowing through you.

Would imagine a lot of houses have that lonely shelf, dust ridden and timeless.
I suppose we all do it, store it all away hoping maybe it will stay away, but sadly it stays just waiting for that day.
