Unequal America

Unequal America

A Poem by ShadowBard

“We Hold These Truths To Be

SELF-EVIDENT;

That All Men Are Created Equal...”

But not in The United States of America!

Not today,

Not in 1775,

Not after 620,000 American souls were snuffed out

In the Civil War;

Not after Brown v. Board;

Not after the (supposed) death of Jim Crow;

Not after two terms of a man wearing a Brown suit in the Oval.

If not now, when?

When will the life of one

HUMAN BEING robed in a BROWN SUIT

Be worth

The White,

The Blue?

When will:

Black lives,

Brown lives,

Female lives,

Be EQUAL

Be RESPECTED,

Be fully AMERICAN?

When will it be SELF-EVIDENT to White men

that all Americans OWN our Republic;

All American have a stake

All American deserve the right to pursue

Life, Liberty and Happiness on EQUAL footing to them?
