Daydreams

Daydreams

A Poem by Shalena Taylor
"

Just a random poem I wrote about the world nowadays.

"

Sometimes I fail to see the silver lining in life.
I like to hide in my daydreams, just so I can imagine how great life really can be.
I've never had it sugar-coated.
I know the ups and downs.
I may not seem like it sometimes, but I truly am good, inside and out.
I know I am not heartless, because every cruel word spoken to me sends tremors of pain through my chest.
That must mean something, right?
Such a sweet addiction, this thing called love.
Leaves me breathless, craving more.
Unobsess me mother.
The pull is strong.
Do I fit into your cruel white world, black as I am?
Count me out of this foolish charade.
Was it all a game?
Life is so much more.
From Barbie dolls to blow-up dolls.
Such sweet innocence.
Do not ask, do not tell.
Hushed tones, hidden smiles.
Maybe I'll just daydream...
