Me and My Butterflies

Me and My Butterflies

A Poem by Shannie M Fowler
"

This is a poem about my childhood abuse and gives others an understanding of why I love butterflies so much. They saved alot of my emotional stability.

"
I hear movement, am I safe? I peek over my covers. You are outside my door, in the shadows.
I think of fear, I am scared. As you inch closer, I hear you breathing. I close my eyes, tightly, I am asleep.
I feel your breath, can anyone see what you do? I feel your touch, I begin to pray.
I go to another world, another place. A field of butter flies, wrapped in their wings.
Promised to be kept safe. Safe from you, it''s over, I see you leave. I have tears, lots of tears.
I don''t remember, I won''t. I get together, thinking of my colorful friends.
My butterflies, kept me safe, in my cocoon. How do I leave?
Leave these shadows? Where are my wings?
I want to fly, flutter, far away, with you, my butterflies.
