Happy Birthday, It's Time

Happy Birthday, It's Time

A Poem by Shaunyaboi

Take that syringe from your arm,

Put that needle down.

Don't worry about the withdrawl.

Think about the kids.

Think about that last call.

You love them,

Is this the way you really want to end your life?

I know you loved your wife,

I know they threw you on the ground,

And cuffed you till you bled.

But what do they know?

They just thought you lost control,

But what they don't know,

Is you dont want to sell your soul.

The temptation gets worse,

Believe me I know.

You didn't give into the right or the wrong way.

If anyone thinks they can prove your life wrong.

They should try and walk in your shoes.

And follow your footsteps.

It's not scary, but it's not cool,

It's the truth and it's strong.

Ha, these fools .

After time of being in an addiction, we must learn the urge to pull away and get onto the road to recovery. Once one is introduced to recovery, they are scared..afraid...it's a natural reaction. But after being in recovery for a certain amount of time, they soon realize what they have been missing...how many times they might have risked their lives for a stupid needle or high. These escapes are dangerous and are easily able to take us over...it is our job to keep it under control.
