THE DARKLING

THE DARKLING

A Poem by TerryDarcy-Ryan akaSheerTerror
"

" fear drives the dark "

"
fear drives the dark
death rides sight unseen
devise a wicked threshold
miles gained while catching sleep
lost dreams and vague debris
passersby to inbetweens
the momentum of obscurity

time flickers in a snap
flees an instance
outline against bright beams
a moving silhouette
the weight of grief
hanging from trees
regret breathes sweet
the swing of the dead

the tears of misery bleed
soon to seed
sharp stabs seeking green
a means to plunge deep
seeking a pulse to beat
true goes the steady stream
flowing tree to tree

Shadowy bends bow to break
twisted sprigs move climbing feet
knotted tangled trunks beneath
a crown of twigs joined to extend
obscure limbs held content
the sea of branches transcends
rises steep to oversee
beyond the leaves

I can't quite put my finger on it, it feels like the loss of someone and then the struggle to cope with it and trying to live in a sort of lost and isolated state and sort of struggling with dark emotions. I cannot tell if the persona is trying to find a way out and seeks help or wants to be left alone whilst watching it all go by.

The darkness of this write describes a pain within that only can be felt when loss comes as it has to many of us. I feel these words. The sadness flows through every word.

Weeping Willow , I love how the writing touches you, poured lot into this. Thank you
Pretty dark, this one. Makes MacBeth's soliloquy sound like an upper.

a potent, very dark write...a place where many of us go at times...your imagery really gets us to that place.
I really like "vague debris"
such good phrasing there. My heart was touched by your branches.

Life is dark and beautiful.

The light lies somewhere in-between. But only if you don't look specifically.

Regardless of any intellectual stuff... this was really well written. Nice work.
