Turning To Dust

Turning To Dust

A Poem by L.G. Knight

I turned to Dust while standing here,

Waiting for my knight to appear,

Whisk me away to a happy land,

Where my heart would never hurt again.

A knight to rescue me from dieing,

Drowning in the tears I've been crying,

Take me away to a fairytale land,

Where I'll never cry a tear again.

I turned to dust idly waiting,

For that prince to come in armor plating,

Wipe away my memories of you,

Show me love strong and true.

A love like you cleverly imatated,

Before you left my heart desecrated,

Take me to a castle far away,

Where we'd love till the end of days.

Little did I know as I turned to dust,

Contemplating how love had been unjust,

The answer stared me right in the face,

You're someone I didn't need to replace.

And as realization hit me like a bomb,

I realized I found what I wanted all along,

And the night that I had waited for so patiently,

Turned out to really be plain old me.

I didn't need anyone to make me feel grand,

Or love and cuddle me on demand,

Sometimes the love that proves most true,

Is simply the love you have for you.

My heart was rejuventated, dust particles reformed,

And my soul that had died, was slowly reborn,

I haven't thought of you one day since,

The day I realized I was my own fair Prince.

A knight to rescue me from dieing----> dying
A love like you cleverly imatated----> imitated
And as realization hit me like a bomb----> I don't particularly like this line for a poem that supposed to seem medieval. I mean, it doesn't really go along with the motif.

I'm not usually so picky (especially about spelling) except for my best friend on this site, who asks me to be, but I noticed on your profile that you'd like a TOP WRITER badge, so I figured I'd help you be an even better writer. :) I like the idea, and particularly the ending idea, of this little diddy. It's cute. Sometimes we don't need someone else to make us happy. Sometimes, we're all we need, and we need to learn to be a little more independent. Cute theme!!!

nicely constructed although the rhyming is a little off in places. you stae a truth you must first love yourself before expecting others to love you

Loved it! adam is completely and totally right in all ways
love is grand but in most cases it will always end up the same broken hearted mess lying on the floor of another crime scene when the detective wonders what story lies beneath that poor souls skin

but true love is worth the wait
and your Prince will find you
no matter how much you think it is dead. read missing love to get what im saying and yea its by me and if ucan leave me some reviews with a dash of inspiration im bored and dying without a poem to write

ITS TORTURE

Great message in this poem. More people need to understand the importance of the self relationship, and finding happiness with ones self instead of spending a lifetime seeking happiness from others. I enjoyed this one very much, nice write!
