Trophy

Trophy

A Poem by Shimmerbliss/CAF

Butterfly

pinned to a board

Dry me

Ignore

this last twitch

of wings

Smile

You can prove

you have something

that once

flew

Subtly fantastic. This is your best piece but it will garner less reviews and critical acclaim because these days we need a huge poem for it to be considered a masterpiece.

It's as if the butterfly is letting the catcher know how futile it all is. Whether or not he captures the butterfly as a trophy, as a statement of flight succumbing to human interest, there will be no reprieve for him, just disappointment as he is left to marvel at things he will never experience. It's strong, much stronger than the first read makes it out to be.

Poignant. How hateful it seems to take these beautiful creatures from flight to death.

How often we have to have a trophy at the expense of something else. Beautifully done!!

Beautifully put. surely the stupidest hobby known, trying to capture beauty to keep for your own.
