The Threat

The Threat

A Poem by Siddartha Beth Pierce

Why do you care so much about

these monetary values-

cars, houses, possessions collected

for what-to be buried with

these earthly wants?

All you need is love and honesty

truth and understanding-

a companion that will sit

by your side through your pain

and suicidal tendencies

of longings to pay each bill

in full

rahter than realizing

that this money trouble

that you have

is not worth

losing your head-

in rants and raves

or to the shotgun shell

as you have often threatened.

In the end, it isn't important

it is about worth

not the value in your

wallet or purse

that makes the day

worth living.

How true, Siddartha. Material wealth pales in comparrison to love and loyalty. Of course we have to have enough of it to live and maintain a certain degree of comfort, but in the end, it is, well, let me quote the Beatles--"And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make."
Thanks for sharing your very wise words. Sam

In debt to our eyeballs is just the American way.
If we wait, till we can afford it, than it's too late, and we don't need it then.

Enjoyed this Sid.
This is a problem many of us face.

Blessings to you,
Rich

The wealth of material things are so superficial compared to the things that money cannot buy-Love, happiness, peace...it all pales in comparison.

All you need is love and honesty

truth and understanding-

a companion that will sit

by your side through your pain

and suicidal tendencies

of longings to pay each bill

in full

If money were the answer, why are there so many movie stars over dosing on drugs and alcohol? Very thought provoking, Siddartha! I will admit I have had my moments flipping out over money, but haven't done it in a long-long time. Things always work out and we never go without. This is a reminder we all need!

Well spoken and the shotgun shell line adds an urgency to the otherwise tranquil message.

God job.
