The Mortal Gods

The Mortal Gods

A Poem by E.E.Moore

Goodbye dear world,

I am watching you fade

Because men play god,

With the lives of other men

Men play heroes

With souls not their own

Men of power play with metal toys

To prove that they have power

To stretch their bloodless hand

And make heartless commands

And leaves turn to flame

And houses to ash

And men become scattered

And women torn apart

And children weep and starve

Because men play god

With the lives of other men

Wonderful, lyrical commentary on the destructiveness of man. This demands to be in a spoken word
