Come and stay with me a while

A moment longer than you would

To try and catch 

another fleeting eternity

So I can drift away

Into miles and miles and miles

Of hazy unrealities

Can I hold you back a moment

Long enough

Why even walls can make me smile

Why the end of every sullen day

Is a promised night

Of a free one way ticket

To our private paradise

Why I don't want to land back

And face the sight

Of an empty bed

And an empty house

And miles and miles and miles of measured land

Holding us apart

 

Come and stay with me a while

If only for a moment

If only in my mind

Let us live another eternity

Before its time for another good-bye...

The repetitiveness of some of the lines definitely made this poem more powerful. I enjoyed every line, too. The relate able desires and dreams. The wanting of just a single grain of sand to just stop before it passes through the hour glass so you can enjoy the moment with that someone. There is such a wave...a flood of emotion. I live for such poetry! I like how it comes in small fleeting waves and grows to an overpowering proportion even. The tone is perfectly fitted and it really packs a punch to the flow and feeling of it all.

Distance and create a great many feelings. Lonely house, empty bed are hard ones to deal with when you are not use to being alone and long with yearning that is greater than you understand to be next to that person who makes you feel like anything is possible with, the one that makes you smile on the worse day or at least feel comfort.
