Odious Hold

Odious Hold

A Poem by SleepingDragon

The siren sings in my ear

Soothing, sensual, sapping

Everywhere I hear her call

Get me out, get me out!

My eyes locked on her form

Her voice stimulates my ears

My mind conjures new scenarios

Get me out, get me out!

Bound by silken strands

I smile as she advances

Promises of unrivaled experiences

Get me out, get me out!

Control forgotten

Lost to the embrace

She bares all, including the fangs

Get me out, get me out!

Sanity returns, banishing the haze

Bonds broken, spell undone

Revealing the mistress’ true form

Its odious hold on my mind ceases

My shame shreds the illusion

Disgust at lying in this mire

A slow death awaits me,

If on this path I still tread

Reality is a revealing pool

Clarity reveals my fate

Just another meal for her

Like countless others before

Hardened as stone, shield firm

My back turns to the web

Deaf to her impassioned pleas

My final words: “I’m out.”
