Echo

Echo

A Poem by Andromeda
"

about a divorce

"

You never answer your phone

When I call,

And

I always wonder,

If a phone rings

In an empty home,

How loud does it echo?

But I know your home isn’t

Empty when I call,

So I know

How loud the ring echoes:

As loud as golden bands dropping on the tile floor of the kitchen hallway:

A piercing ping

And offering,

Echoing in our hearts.

You never answer your phone

When I call,

And

I always wonder

If a phone rings

In a broken home,

How loud does it echo?
