Fingertips of Tomorrow

Fingertips of Tomorrow

A Poem by Andromeda
"

...

"

On the heels of yesterday

And the fingertips of tomorrow—

That,

You always said,

Was where you’d be

Always there for me.

On the way the moon sets

In a sudden sweep

From bright color to sleep

On the way the sun rises

And exhaustedly weeps

For all the stories it must keep

That,

You always said,

Was where you’d be

Always there for me.

But when I cannot see the sunrise,

And in the darkness when

I can’t bear to close my eyes—

Where are you then?

When the heels of yesterday

Fly all too fast to the

Fingertips of tomorrow,

And all I have to celebrate

Is a quick gasp that I borrow,

And I miss you in the speed

Of time flying by,

And I am too lonely to look around

For fear that I might not see

Where you are

Always for me—

What of then?

Where are you then?

I ask—

I yell and I plead,

Threaten to

Make our bonds bleed,

And all the while

You stand there

With a gentle smile—

It is all a motif,

You say:

I am always

Here to stay.
