Cancer

Cancer

A Poem by Andromeda

And this was the hope that she’d dashed

So quickly onthebottom of the stairwell—

Dropped vase on the way up,

Watch as it fell

As it fell

As it fell

                And broke like hopes

                Thrown into a wishing well

Replay of

As it fell

As it fell,

And this was the hope that she’d dashed

So quickly onthebottom of the stairwell

                There is a knot,

                An untangible thing—

And the poison—

Oh, my child, my God,

The poison that it bring—

Hold my hand now

Dropped vase on the way up

As it fell

Replay as it

As it fell

                And broke like hopes

There is a knot

That the doctors don’t know how

                Thrown into a wishing well

Oh, my child, my God,

The poison that it sing—

The doctors don’t know how

To soothe away the sting.

Close your eyes and watch

A tear

As it fell

Thirsty and hopeless

To the bottom of the

                Wishing well.

Dashed the hope

Like a broken vase;

Wrinkles grow like

Poisoned cancer

On parent/child face—

                Wants the hope back

                That was dashed

                In replay of recordedwords

Broken vase slowly

Climbing

Up the stares,

On the way to bed

To rest the head

Of the

                As it fell—

                Clink

                Clink

                Clink

                Into the wishing well

Oh, my child, my God—

What a poisoned knot!
