Her Beautiful Flaws
Written by Adam M. Snow

Upon her reflection, I see her stare
at an image looking there.
An image she saw, she saw defected
- a beauty not sought, but rejected.
In her ears, many names so crude
like w***e, ugly and all that is rude.
She believes the voices and what the voices said;
the torment that filled this dame with dread.
She ponders and wonder all her flaws,
all her pores and her odd shaped jaw.
The beauty she lusts she did not see,
she envies the beauty that man decree.
With scars upon scars, her face she re-sculpted,
her desired beauty she had exalted.
An angel, she dreamt herself to be;
but merely a monster the world now sees.
Upon her reflection, I see her stare
at an image looking there.
An image she saw, she saw defected
- a beauty no longer, but a soul rejected.

Great piece, enjoyed the flow and inspirations - ode to the mystique of the eyes beholden--woman. Beauty is certainly more than what is without.

The rhyme and pentameter of this write could definitely find itself in a song, but you probably already knew that. Again, great write.

Bravo! As ever the master wordsmith you weave a tapestry of words to capture her flaws for all time. Some would say you curl for the reminder, I say well done, for flaws give us character. Clap! Clap! Clap!

Your writing always intrigues me. This is a constant burden in many females minds, including mine. Luckily I don't hear the judgement from others; it's mostly me who mauls me with words

interesting piece.
I see beauty in the mirror & in my accomplishments of who i am...
and yet a phone doesn't ring on my big day from my dad- and all is distorted.
funny what make the mirror like those in a fun house...
thanks snow.
well done.

I find this writing to be in tune to current feelings of the female public. Highly scrutinized to be kept in a certain way. Keep in appearance. Women's behavior judged in the public often perpetuate that if a woman is acting very irritable that they are on their "period". There is a notion in each individual and each woman that flaws are present in each person. Our greatest critic is ourselves in which is heavily influenced by the outside world and those closest to us.

This is a very common thought process with girls, especially ones my age. That included me for a while but then (in the ninth grade I believe) I decided to get rid of majority of my makeup and only wear the other stuff on special occasions. I believe that makeup can be good for girls and very very bad for girls. Your poem not only touches on that but also plastic surgery in a way. It's a very real write that often girls feel undesirable on the outside and they think it transfers to the inside as well.
