Facade

No one is who they seem they are, and those who see the person for who they really are, are either fortuitous, or hapless.

I love the darkness,

Not because it is portrayed as evil,

Not because of all the pleasures it provides,

But because it envelopes my presence.

 

It hides me from sight.

Where no one can see me,

Hear me,

Or judge me.

 

They say they understand me,

How everyone has a different perspective

And how I should see their perspective as they see mine.

But they don’t see my perspective at all.

 

They only see the positive things that happen in my life.

They don’t see the s**t I go through,

The pain I've gone through,

The mental anguish I've trudged through.

You believe you understand me,

Know me.

However, you know nothing of me,

The real me.

I was very impressed with this poem! In a way I can relate, but at the time I don't see your perspective at all. I only see my perspective and the way I viewed the poem, and to me its setting you different from everyone else. Your right, everyone says "oh you see from their perspective as they see from yours" but how is that true?! To be honest, we can't view each others perspective, we can only hope to explain our perspective and gain insight on someone else's as well. And sometimes the darkness is better than the light, and very soon I'll have a story and/or poem on it!

What you say is completely true, one can never truly understand another's pain or happiness. The best we can do is to find things similar to our feelings, and try to display it towards others, so that they too may feel close to what you've felt. Thank you for your inspiring words through both your comments and your writing. I know exactly where your coming from. We try, as humans, to find similarities and join those who are like us. But because we can't understand each others differences on an "eye to eye" basis, we feel inferior because we can't comprehend! And yes I hope you enjoy my piece! I have a prologue and 2 chapters up!!!!! :) I'm so happy!
