A Red Rose

A Red Rose

A Poem by Soma-ko
"

What else is red...

"

In a field of white roses,

Was a single blood stained rose.

Held in her hand, with a story untold.

She stood there waiting, waiting so foolishly.

Waiting for the man,

The man she truly loved.

She waited and waited,

In a gown so pure.

Waited was what she did,

All day and night.

Waited for the man,

That was nowhere in sight.

Her hands tightened around the rose,

That he gave her that day.

So white and pure it was,

Until it was full of dismay.

Detached from the ground,

The rose had no more water.

So it took her blood instead,

Even though it was sour.

Becoming one with the girl,

The thorns prickled her skin.

Tears so clear went  down her cheek,

And yet the rose was so red.

It's great when it does, but at times I struggle with words because I over think the picture.
