My Time

My Time

A Poem by Jenny
"

In school last year we were given the word Time to work with as a theme and told to write a poem in a week. This is what I came up with

"
My Time

Time is memories,
Time is painful,
Time is healing,
Time is missed,
Time is kept,
Time is conceived,
9 months, a life created,
A child is born,
Time develops,
A child grows,
A child becomes a person, a somebody, an anybody.
Time is needed,
Time is made,
Time is beaten,
Time is with us,
Time is treasured,
Time ran away with me,
With you, with them,
With the man next door,
With the woman across the street,
With the boy crossing the road,
With the girl sitting in the hotel cafe.
Time is wasted,
Time is used,
Time is spent,
Time is passed,
Time is shared,
Time is lost,
To the waves of change,
That push us forward,
We leave people behind,
We forget names,
And eventually faces.

Time beats us,
Time is against us,
Time is forgotten,
Time is taken for granted,
Time is killed,
Time is stopped,
Decades will pass,
And hardly anyone, put probably no one, will remember my name,
A century will pass followed by another,
They will knock down my granite grave
And buildings will tower above my forgotten bones.

By the time I have grown old,
And the people i adore are gone,
My birth, my life, my future plans, my passions, my aspirations, my achievements, my failures, my lovers, my friends, my pleasures, my pains, my death,
Will not be of importance to anyone but me.

My time here,
Will be insignificant,
And consequently,
I will matter to no one.
