The Girl

The Girl

A Story by Desiree O'Neal

She sits in her room, nothing to say, she sits with a smile upon her face

She's beautiful with hazel and green eyes, looks as if a thorn has touched her lips for how rosy  they are, hair as white as snow flows down her back. As I look through her window I see her writing something. As I take a closer look I see she's writing a goodbye letter, she knows it's her time. I look at my partner and say “this can't be right, I don't think we have the right  person, she's beautiful young and a healthy looking girl. She cant die right now.” my partner looks at me with glossy eyes and says “she knows it's her time..” he takes a pause and looks back and the girl through the window. I let her finish writing her letter and she falls backwards onto her bed. She falls perfectly it looks as if she just feel asleep. Her chest moves upward to take on last breath and with it she said goodbye. Morning rolls around and her mother comes in to her room to wake her but to her surprise she wouldn't wake up she cries knowing what happened. She notices the note and unfolded it with care and in it reads “ Dear mom, I love you and I always will but you and I both know that this day would come. I was becoming anxious of the time I  had left, all the doctors told me different days I would pass, one saying I had shorter time than the last. It was killing me softly but with this I would like to say goodbye.  Love, your daughter

I take one last glance through the girls window seeing her mother let tears roll down her cheek bone hitting the floor. I look at the girl now floating above her house and pull her along sending her to a place where there is no doctores and there is no sickness.

I enjoyed this. It was like looking through death's eyes as if it were a person with feelings.
