Dream Catcher

Two friends, oceans apart but so close in heart, supporting each other through difficult times.

(for Dove)

 

I placed dream catchers on my page,

one for me and one for you,

that each would find happiness,

a relief to things we’d gone through. 

With each catcher I said a prayer, 

one for me and one for you, 

that we’d forget our troubles and

  each find love anew.

 

Our only prayer someone to hold, 

someone for me, someone for you, 

soft relief from memories cold,

but for a love so true!

Each just wanting to laugh, to smile, 

one to take away our pain, 

wanting to forget the past

  that we might live again! 

 

All we want to be made whole,

freed from memory’s pain

love the hope the question when,

but just to smile again! 

In time, in not so very long

  you found him and I found her,

our hearts awakened to the joy and

  feelings began to stir.

 

Each of us the other’s trust,

but by seas divided, 

a friendship so far apart, but 

  in each other’s heart confided.

We’ve held each other in our pains,

our words softly spoken,

talked of feelings within

  in healing of hearts broken. 

 

We both found someone from our past, 

the embers spark to flame, 

rekindling memories of times old, 

hearts reawaken and move the same.

Both hoping now for rest, and 

  our hearts can still, but 

  know in our friendship love we’re blessed

  and forever will.  

 

In our friendship of beautiful trust 

  we sat together as we learned to let go,

we’ve talked and shared our souls,

I held her hand as it started to snow.

Our friendship so close and so strong 

  though so very far,

in a friendship love, an understanding deep, but 

  to each a shining star.
