Careless Cupid

Careless Cupid

A Poem by Spoken

Oh, that careless cupid
Shooting his liquid arrows
Like love was a play thing
Piercing my fancy
Indulging my fantasies
Making me believe
That fairy tales
are more than ersatz
He should pick his victims
More carefully
When his liquid love
Courses through veins
Then hardens
We become
adversary
The opposite
Of his intentions
A legion in uprisal
Against the pain
Of a love lesion
Upon our heart
We will not stand for
His wreck less follies
Any longer
If you've been hurt like me
and many others
follow us
to the picket lines
"down with cupid
and his love lies"

I love this poem. I am a cynic and though you might not have intended to be cynical, I read it cynicaly and I love it. You tell it like it is.
