The Revelation and The Light

The Revelation and The Light

A Poem by Latonya Hughes
"

A dual set of undefined sonnets. Their meanings and messages are purely for readers to interpret...

"

The Revelation:

He prowls amongst the shadows of the dark,

An enemy, malevolent and great…

Foreshadowing a presence, vile and stark,

With chaos, his intention, to create.

As night prepares to fall, the voices hark,

Of tumult coming to a peaceful state:

“Beware, the beast approaches!“, they remark,

“He wears an armor forged of lies, and hate!“

“Take heed in the depravity of scorn;

It promises to reign for many years…

Amidst its wrath, humanity will mourn,

With villages awash in flowing tears.

For in the spirit is the demon born;

And manifest in man, the beast appears.”

The Light:

He holds the prominence of god in man,

A strength transcendent of humanity.

His arms invoke the eagle's wing’ed span;

He bears a burden’s weight, eternally.

Before our eyes will now emerge a plan.

The implement of written prophecy…

Let us behold a love no greater than,

A heart of gold, and soul of purity.

With tempest looming ever-large upon

A world awash in weariness, and worn…

Let peace instill an everlasting calm,

And end the chaos of the raging storm.

Rejoice within the coming of the dawn,

And marvel at the miracles performed.
