Fear

Fear

A Poem by Spottedleaf
"

Got on a plane to fly home for a semester break and the lady next to me freaked out. Really made me think about fear and what it does to some people.

"

Is this fear?

Or just suspicions?

Perhaps the envy of my enemies,

Infusing me with jealousy,

Destroying my abilities.

So come take a peek,

Please don’t be weak.

For the evidence you see inside,

Will churn you up until you die,

And when you’re done examining,

Return me to reality…

So take a pause,

For some reflection.

What did you find,

Deep in my mind?

Do I have any say,

Or have my thoughts become the fray?

Why don’t you speak?

Why don’t you tell me?

Pretending like it’s okay,

Then forcing me to come and stay,

Making me go more insane….

One deep breath,

That’s all I need.

To help me up and clear my mind,

Lifting the veil that made me blind.

I know it’s fear,

And it’s suspicion.

It’s the envy of my enemies,

And it’s all my pent up jealousy.

But now I know,

The beast that has me in tow.

It’s not the shady government,

The myths and the all the legends.

It’s not the wars,

Or the weak and poor.

My biggest fear is just one thing,

And it’s my crippling insanity.

What do I do?

How do I face this?

My family tells me to come and stay,

My friends just want me to play.

I know the answer,

I know the solution.

It’s a gun against my enemies,

All of which lurk inside of me.

A simple pull of the trigger,

Will stop this before it’s bigger.

Goodbye world,

Goodbye insanity.

Goodbye to the folks residing within,

As my body begins to stiffen.
