the greatest joke ever told.

I find it at least

partially humourous

that people subconsciously

find things like

car crashes

to be

romantic.

And, I mean

who can

blame them?

I sure as hell can’t

think of anything more

romantic

than twisted metal and

severed heads.

And I find it at least

partially humourous

that the concept of something like

marriage

does little more than

depress me.

And, I mean

can you

blame me?

‘Cause I sure as hell can’t

think of anything less

romantic

than a contract and

a fifty percent divorce rate.

But it’s getting hard to find

anything humourous

about the fact

that I can’t think of anything less romantic than

the concept of romance

itself

and

that I can’t think of anything more depressing than

the concept of happiness

itself

and

that since I lost my best friend I spend most nights on the verge of

vomit

and

ever since Brandon told me that airports depress him I haven’t been able to look at them

the same

and

oh god

I don’t even know

who I am

anymore.

I don't know why but I really love the structure of this poem, it's like one can feel you falling apart as you read on. If that males sense. It's sad but great, love it.

Thanks! The structure is supposed to feel composed at the start, then in the last verse it loses most of it's rhythm and turns into a long run-on sentence as if the narrator was in the midst of a panic attack and is just letting his sad ramblings flow onto the page.
