My gem is an element so rare

like mercury

Bright-eyed and fair

Warm-hearted like the feel

of summer in the air

Born under the planet

closest to my sun

Her light shines brighter

than any star has ever done

Her love is whole and measureless

As selfless as it is self-afflicting

With her inner twin's turmoil

oftentimes conflicting

She'll hide in my embrace

when life leaves her reeling

As there is no limit

to the depth of her feeling

But when her heart fills

with unbounded joy

And her smile finds her eyes
