The Deaf & Dumb

The Deaf & Dumb

A Poem by Steve Thompson

These senseless living zilches,
Marching,
Armed with desires and hopes,
A family, kids, maybe take them to an opera.

Smells like more drama,
Like soap,
How unclean these thoughts are.

These flimsy thinkers,
Tarzans brave for nothing,
Swinging in the wrong jungle,
Flood there pride filled ideas with,
A much needed monsoon of realism…Please

I have recently checked the bottle,
And Love has no nutritional facts,
Psychologically speaking,
It’s irrational,
But this isn’t America only,
Maybe the religification of nations did it.

It could be the transferred radiation,
From that Truman devastation,
Maybe that is what cancered the minds of every civilization,
That is probably why logic has taken a vacation.

These are great lines! I especially liked them, though I enjoyed the entire piece. Wonderful writing!

"I have recently checked the bottle,

Empty calories still make the body run...and they taste damn good.

Maybe you should adjust your bifocals
before you shatter
that hopeful bottle
take a sip
relish in it
perhaps it tastes of sin
yet, like it or not
you're still in.

I liked this. It was like listening to beat poetry in parts. And the "religification of ntations"? Loved that. :D Keep it up, your style is fun to read.

The last line is the most moving of all to me - logic must always prevail to some sense of our semblance although heart and soul are always part of this as well. Thank you for expressing such deep emotion with this piece. A very interesting write indeed.
