A New Broom Sweeps Clean

A New Broom Sweeps Clean

A Poem by Steven Pottle

Travelled across Norfolk deep in February weather
The roads appear dark blue covered with black ice
Surrounded by frozen fields and frosty skies
This bus must make it as I have to say too many goodbyes…
With a new move comes the feelings of growth
The happiness overwhelms whatever was there before
And as we finally enter the station safe and sound
Achieved destination and so I jump off the steps to kiss the ground…

“Goodbye”.

Dear Steven,

Sometimes change can be so empowering, lifting a heavy brick from your chest, a brick you might not even have noticed being there since you've lived with it for so long. So take those deep and welcome free breaths. I can almost feel the relief myself. Well done.

Kind regards,

Rick

Baby, I know that feeling and you've captured it so well.
