The Summer In A Somersault

The Summer In A Somersault

A Poem by Steven Pottle

Walk to a place that encases all of your hopes
Maybe on the way repeat the chorus of a favourite song-
It may be the only bit you know, but it makes you happy.

Crouch under a broken fence leading to the gate
Sense the beginning of that much needed constant heat
And see the other one already there who smiles at your sight.

We skip, trip and hand stand sideways
This made me so happy
This made me so happy
Little rays of something that were bigger than I am.

If we move a certain way could a life change
If we waved quickly into the sky
Then would the people on the other side of the world
Be able to feel our breeze?

Green, Blue and Brown all around
Fingers hard dig into the ground
Finding another reason to be pleased with this coming season
And I am finally in love with what I have found.

I love everything about the feel of this. You've captured it beautifully.

I'm picturing you and her walking through a huge garden, holding hands on a nice little spring day. Everything is right in the world, indeed.
Thank you for sending this my way...

I think everyone on this planet can relate to those two lines above. So simple, but Ive never even thought of anything like that.

Great lines Steven. Thought that this was a really good piece of work and hope you think so as well.

This was a good poem, really enjoyed the forth stanza. The fifth one threw me off a bit from the rest. T

You have a way with our writing that conveys your meaning in such a smooth way. Your kind of like a poetry pimp. I mean that as compliment, as withthis piece, "I am finally in love with what I have found."
