Sip, sip goes down the wine
Seems to numb whatever it was opened for
And the birds zigzag dart high above our heads
They’re unaware of what is happening below them
As the people pass by in their hundreds
High on Saturday night sounds and a little something illegal
Pity no one can see me sitting down here
With only a cool breeze for company
The sudden twist of feathers
And the strength of a corkscrew
Do we both just carry on with instinct
Or do we calculate a bigger return to past lives better?
So a tired sun warm touches ten tiles at a time
Resting over the roofs before it drops behind the distance
And I say goodnight to no one but myself
As I randomly wave up into the sky just before I close the door…
This is a sad and sort of doomsdayly prophetic. I live in the desert. There are days the winds blow so hard here that the mountains on either side of me become invisible. The ground is hot and dry and the plant life is burnt and wilted. Then it rains and within hours of the rain the ground is covered in green. Nature has retaken what I plowed and raked and burnt. You would never know within a year, that I had been here if I left. The world repairs itself.
I read how some birds were disapearing from a certain site in New Mexico. They are all worried these birds will go exstinct from that place. They may not return there but they have made their homes here. We, humans, studied only a small bit of the earth and make these rash statements. I was once a geotechnician. I worked on many environmental projects. Did you know it takes more energy and makes more pollution to recycle plastic, than it takes to make it in the first place? Did you know that EPA allows this extensive pollution because they are recyling. Does that make sense to you? Did you know the EPA only fines huge companies like motorola, hewett packard, IBM and does not make them clean up the super fund sites they have created? Do you own a TV, cell phone, IPod, blackberry, digital camera, computer, LCD watch and on and on? Those are what are polluting our world quicker than anything else. Theses companies fund green peace thus green peace will not come after them because of it. I will have nothing to do with these green peace people for they are liars and alarmists.

Been there done that...emotional pain seems to be the worst. Can really feel the lonliness in this piece.
As the people hurry by in their hundreds
High on Saturday night sounds and a little something illegal
Pity no one can see me sitting down here
With only a cold bottle for company
Wonderful way to describe the lonliness as others pass by unaware.
For a single person I can relate to this a lot. So much passes by, especially time and if you've fallen off the merry-go-round of life, sometimes it's difficult, if not impossible to get back on.
Thankfully for me though I've given up drinking although the change of realities this gives you does hold an appeal!
This was a nice poem that says alot about the world today. It seems to fast to take the time to notice the individual person. The loneliness of the world. T
