A Caged Bird No One Wants

A Caged Bird No One Wants

A Poem by Strife
"

A short poem in which I am unable to figure out what kind it is

"

A bird in a cage,
A sparrow nobody wants
does he have the right to fly?

The master and owner of the cage
brings food and water everyday.
Must the sparrow be grateful
cut off from others
almost never having
liking company
Aside from the foul
felines, who enjoy rattling the cage.

Every now and then
through the bars
the sparrow watches
all those who fly outside:
The happy lovebirds,
the handsome crows,
the talented parakeets,
the kind robins
and the strong eagles.

He wishes to become like them
and take their place.
But still, must he repay
the master who imprisoned him
and fed him all these years

How he wishes to change his feathers
and be more than just
a bird in a cage
a sparrow nobody wants

This was awesome!
I loved the whole piece.
I feel sorry for that lonely sparrow.

There a lot of people in this world who can probably relate to the sparrow.

I really liked this one.
I love how it seems specific to a certain being and yet the sparrow can be any other being in the same sort of situation. I love the atmosphere conveyed.
Great work. I'm eager to read more of you when I have more time.

a poem in a cage
without a name
brilliant feathers
waiting a crumb or two
do you suppose
he knows
he doesn't have a name?
