Chapter 1- New Adventures

Walking up to see the size of my new campus housing, I couldn’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of excitement. I’ve never experience walking into something so new, so different. It’s a breath of fresh air.

My name is Gabriella; I’m 21 and just moved to New Jersey. I just transferred to Rutgers University from my old community college back in Maryland. I needed a change, my life was the epitome of boring, quite frankly I just needed to get out of Church Hill Maryland population as of 2010 is 720 people. My graduating high school class was 15 students. I’ve never had a boyfriend or even a love interest for that matter, there wasn’t much of a selection. So when my father announced he got offered a job at a consulting firm in Princeton, I was thrilled.

I left everything I knew behind, and there was no way I was looking back. I spent my days occupied with reading the classics, Jane Austen, the Bronte sisters, Thomas Hardy. Silently longing to find someone to love me, with a passion I couldn’t stand to be away from. I would surly never find that in Church Hill, I’m praying college and life in New Jersey proves to be more fulfilling.

I have to go get my schedule and attend orientation tomorrow, but first I need to get settled into this place. I made my way over to the room I wanted. It wasn’t big but for just me and a roommate I’m sure it would be fine. Actually I’m wondering where my roommate is, I hope she’s nice. After getting my bed all made I started to move on to unpacking the boxes, I heard the door open and walked out into the living area. I walked out and saw a beautiful girl, long blonde hair, almond shaped blue eyes, and a lovely slim figure. How intimidating, talk about being the better looking roommate. I’m 5’7, curvy, with long black hair, and blue eyes. I always heard from people that I was pretty but in a small town, and now starring at this girl. You might as well call me Medusa.

“Hey, I’m Gabriella, but everyone calls me Gabby.” I said smiling brightly at her.

“Hi, I’m Olivia.” She said walking up and hugging me. I would have probably felt uncomfortable if I hadn’t grown up in the little town I did. No one shook hands, it was always a hug. I let out a smile, remembering how it would irritate me. “I’m so excited to meet you; you have to fill me in on everything. When did you get here?  What school did you come from?” Olivia said excitedly. Oh boy she’s a hyper one I thought. I giggled and said “I’m starving, where can we go eat? We can get to know each other over lunch.” I offered. “That sounds great, we can go on campus to the cafeteria or head to the café down the road, and it’s pretty popular for the students. It’s called ‘Java hut’ most definitely the best coffee ever.” She said

We decided on the café’, we sat at a table, and immediately started chatting about everything. I could tell right away we would be great friends. “What can I get for you ladies?” the waitress asked while popping her gum. How rude I thought. “Can I just have a Blueberry muffin, and a large hazelnut coffee cream and sugar?” I said politely. “And I’ll have a crock of French onion soup, and a large iced tea please.” Olivia said still using an excited voice. “Sure be right back with your drinks.” she said sounding bored.

Olivia and I kept chatting at the café’ for another hour or so. I found out she has two brothers, they’re twins. She is a junior, been here since her freshman year. Her last roommate was mean to her so she was worried to meet me. Her dad died a couple of years ago in a motorcycle accident, so she’s anti- motorcycles. She was sweet, a little overly excited at times but sweet none the less. I told her about my town, how I’d felt like I always belonged somewhere else. Told her about my family, and that I also lost a family member, my sister. She died in a car accident when I was only three, which made my parent’s extremely overprotective of me. We found that we had similar tastes in music, and activities. As we left to head back and continue unpacking we stopped and got two bottles of wine and decided on a girl’s night, full of music, wine, and laughs.

I felt overwhelmed with hope for a wonderful year. I knew this was my chance for the exciting life I’d longed for, and I was ready to take it head on.

I woke up to the annoying buzz of my alarm clock; I looked over at the time. Oh man, I must have been tired I slept through the alarm for 20 minutes. I had to rush now, I hate rushing. I took the worlds fastest shower, got dressed brushed my hair and threw it into a messy bun. I grabbed my bag, and spotted Olivia while I was walking out. “Hey I’m headed out to get my schedule, and go to orientation. I’ll be back around 1. Will you be here?” I said waiting to walk out the door. “No, I’m having lunch with my mom, I’ll see you later, good luck!” She said

I headed out to campus, but decided to stop to grab a coffee on the way. Luckily there was no line so I was on my way quickly. I got to the office to pick up my schedule a couple minutes late but there was a line so I wasn’t worried. Out of no where someone slams into the back of me. I went flying forward but luckily caught myself before I fell, but ended up slamming into the person in front of me as well.

“I’m sorry I was rushing and I slipped on a piece of paper.” The girl said to me looking flustered. ‘It’s ok; I didn’t fall or lose my coffee no harm done.”  I said giving her a reassuring smile. As I faced forward again I noticed the person I slammed into was an extremely handsome man. Dark brown hair shaved close to his head, a face that would probably make nun’s swoon, with the brightest blue eyes, they looked like they were filled with diamonds. As I shook off my thoughts I noticed him looking at me with a scowl on his face. Oh, I made him spill his coffee. “I’m so sorry, someone bumped into me. It was an accident.” I said to the handsome new stranger. “Watch were you’re going next time.” Mr. handsome said as he turned around. ‘I said sorry’ I mumbled under my breath.

After getting my schedule and finishing orientation I headed back to the house, ready to relax and I need to call my parents. I walked in and saw that Olivia went grocery shopping the house was full of food, she’s great I thought to myself. I noticed the full fruit basket on the counter; I grabbed an apple and headed to my room.

“Sweetie, I’m so glad to hear from you. How’s everything going so far?” My mom asked. “Its good mom, I absolutely love my roommate she’s amazing! My class schedule is good too. I’m excited to get started, I have my first class tomorrow.” I said

“Good sweetheart, look I need to run, keep in touch with us. I love you. I’ll tell your father you called and you love him. Have a great week dear.” Mom said. “Thanks mom, I love you too. Call you soon.” I said and hung up.

After an hour of getting my supplies and all together for he next day, I decided to go walk around the area. I found a park near by and sat on the bench. People watching was one of my favorite things to do. The park was beautiful; the trees were starting to change colors. The air was crisp and you could tell fall was coming. I decided to go grab another delicious coffee before heading back to the apartment. Olivia wasn’t kidding when she said this coffee was good.

As I stood in line, someone behind me tapped my shoulder. I turned around and saw him, Mr. handsome. “If I remember correctly I think you owe me a coffee.” He said with a smirk. Oh and what a beautiful smirk it is, I thought to myself.

“Is that so? I’m pretty sure it was an accident but sure I’ll buy you a coffee.” As we walked up to the counter the gentleman asked “and what can I get for you?” he said politely. In unison we both said “Large hazelnut coffee with cream and sugar.” We both looked at each other with confused faces. “We need two of those please.” I said to the man behind the counter.

As we sat there waiting for our coffee’s I couldn’t help but notice how good he smells, like really good. After the handed us our coffee I said “Ok, here’s your coffee, now we are even.” I smiled and walked away. As I headed down the street, I felt a hand grab my arm. I turned around ready to freak out when I noticed it was Mr. handsome again. “Look I just wanted to say sorry about this morning, I shouldn’t have snapped at you.” He said. I looked at him clearly surprised with his apology. “Thanks for apologizing, see you around.” I said. As I started walking away he jogged forward and caught up with me. “I’m Caleb, what’s your name?” he asked. “I’m Gabriella.” I said flatly.

He looked over at me as we continued walking and said “I’ll be seeing you around Gabriella.”  He smiled and headed in the other direction.

I continued walking and couldn’t help but hope that was a promise. He was too gorgeous for his own good. Just the thought of his name made me smile, Caleb what a cute name. I need to calm down I don’t know anything about this guy, except his name, and that he enjoys the same coffee I do.  These first two days have already been more interesting then the 21 years I spent in Church hill. I just hope that it continues, because tonight I’m going to bed with an excitement for what tomorrow brings.

Chapter 2 " He’s your what?

I woke up the next morning, and noticed it was 10:00 o clock already. I don’t have my American history course till noon. Then I have my Irish nationalism class at 3:30.  I got ready quickly, since I put everything out the night before. I decided to dress cute for my first day, I straightened my hair, and put on some light makeup. I put on my new pink flowy top with my black skinny jeans and some black knee high boots. Once I was happy with my appearance I went out to the kitchen to grab something quick to eat.

“Hello sleeping beauty how was your night?” Olivia asked me cheery as usual.

“It was good; I’m actually excited to start my classes. How was your night?” I asked her.

“Other then my mom harassing me all night to find a good girl for my brother, it was fine.” She said looking irritated. “Why can’t he find his own good girl?” I asked giggling at her. “He just transferred here, and let’s just say at his old college he had a reputation of being a ladies man. He’s 22 and has never had a girlfriend; he’s more of a wham bam thank you maam type.” She said honestly. “And your mom thinks you can change that?” I asked her. She just flung her hands in the air rolled her eyes and shook her head. I giggled at her again. “Alright I’m off see you later” I yelled as I walked out of the door.

As I walked into my first class I noticed a good amount of empty seats. I grabbed one closer to the back, and stared to take out all of my books. Then I heard someone clear their throat and sit next to me. I didn’t bother to look over I just kept looking through my things, but I did noticed someone smelled really good. I had a feeling it was him once i smelled the cologne. Then I heard him clear his throat again, so I looked over at him. “Hey Gabriella, I see we have this class together. What a pleasant surprise.” He said giving me a big smile.

“Hello Caleb. Yes it looks like we have class together.” I gave him a small smile and turned back around. Is it possible for him to be even hotter today then yesterday? That shirt was hugging his muscles perfectly. Whoa mind out of the gutter Gabs I thought to myself. The professor came in and introduced himself as “Mr. Rutherford”. He gave us our syllabus and talked to us about what to expect this semester. He seemed like a friendly professor, and I had a feeling I would love this class. History was always my favorite subject.

Once class was over and I started packing up my things, I felt someone unnervingly close to me. “Hey Gabs, what are you doing when you leave class?” Caleb asked.

“I was going to go to the cafeteria and get something to eat before my next class why?” I asked “Do you mind if I join you?” he asked.

I’m currently jumping up and down screaming yes yes yes in my head.

“Sure I guess.’ I said calmly.

We walked to the cafeteria, grabbed some food and sat down at an open table.

“So what’s your next class?” Caleb asked me. “3:30 Irish nationalism across the quad in building b.” I answered. “Seriously? So do I.” he said looking quite amused. “Oh, that’s cool, a least I have someone in my classes on Tuesdays that I know.” I said in response.

We sat in a comfortable silence while we ate. Then a blonde girl with her b***s clearly hanging out of her shirt walked over and just sat down on Caleb’s lap. “Hey Caleb, will you be going to the bar tonight?” he blonde asked “Yeah probably, if my brother comes.”

He responded. She leaned over close to him “See you tonight sexy.” She purred to him in his ear. He smiled at her and she walked away scowling at me.

“Friend of yours?” I asked irritation clear in my voice. “Not really just another girl falling at my feet for my overwhelming charm.” He said laughing. “Wow.” Was all I said. I can’t believe this guy. I mean yes he’s gorgeous, an Adonis really, but who says that?

“Come to think of it, you’re really the only girl other then my sister who isn’t affected by my charm.” He said honestly.

“Well that’s because I don’t find you charming.” Lie. “And you seem to find yourself charming enough for the both of us.” I said honestly. He started laughing loudly. “We are going to get along just fine Gabs.” Caleb said. Oh boy what did I get myself into becoming friends with this guy?

We started talking about our history class, and the other classes we have. We have three out of four classes together. I have to admit I was relived to have three classes with Caleb.

Olivia and Caleb were my only friends so far and I lived with one and had most of my classes with the other. “You ready to head to class now Gabs?” Caleb said. “Yup, let me just put my notebook back in my bag.” I replied.

On our walk across the quad Caleb threw his arm over my shoulder and asked “So are you going to come with me tonight to the bar?” He said with a huge smile. “What about Malibu Barbie back there, she’s expecting you.” I said giggling. “I’m not worried about her, I want you to come. We will have fun, pleaseeee commmeee”  He whinned at me.

“Can I bring my roommate?” I asked “is she hott? “ he asked. “Very, she’s beautiful.” I responded honestly. “then I guess Its ok.” He said.  “Ok then I guess I can come.” I responded.

We got into class and he sat next to me again, smelling entirely too good. He scooted his chair close to mine and said, “I’m so glad we have classes together, you can do my homework.” He said grinning at me. “I leaned in and said “Dream on pal.” And moved away from him. Class went by fast, and I was starving. As we were walking out he handed me his phone number. “Don’t try to start texting and calling me like crazy. I’ve never given a girl my number before, don’t abuse the privilege.” He said laughing. “I’ll try to contain myself Caleb.” I said shaking my head walking away.

He yelled as I walked away “Call me later, so I can give you directions!”

This guy is something else. I know he’s gorgeous but he is so full of himself. Oh well I need to get these thoughts out of my head anyway we are just going to be friends.

As I got back to the apartment I walked in to Olivia cooking me dinner. “Yummm it smells so good in here, what are you cooking?” I asked her peaking over her shoulder.

“Homemade chicken parm with pasta.” She said looking proud. “Ohh it smells delicious Olivia.” I said honestly. “So my new friend in a couple of my classes asked if we want to go to he bar tonight. Want to come with me? It’s a way to meet new people.” I asked her.

“Sure, that sounds fun what time?” she replied “I’m not sure I’ll text him.” She interrupted me “HIM?? Ohhh you already found someone. Lucky!” She whined.

“No, he is just a friend who invited us.” I said flatly.

After dinner we both went to shower and get ready. I picked a nice form fitting black dress, with some sexy stilettos. I curled my hair and put on more makeup then usual. I was so excited to go out and meet people! When I was finally ready I sat waiting for Olivia to get done. I found myself thinking about Caleb. All I can think about is his amazing eyes and beautiful white smile. His laugh is so contagious. I can’t seem to get him out of my head.

As soon as Olivia walked out, I felt a pang of Jealousy. She looked beautiful, overwhelmingly beautiful. She had a purple dress on the hugged her in all he right places, her make-up and hair were perfect. Caleb is going to be all over her. Why am I thinking about him again, let alone getting jealous?

We got to the bar, the music was going, and there were people everywhere. I didn’t see Caleb or anyone I knew other then Olivia. We made our way over to the bar and ordered our first drinks and found a table. “Have you seen your friend yet?” Olivia asked me. “Nope I haven’t seen anyone I know.” I said. We sat and talked more about our day and she told  me more about her life. I was having so much fun letting loose.

We had a couple more drinks and decided to start dancing. Then I saw him, and he was looking way to good. He hadn’t spotted us yet he was with some guy friends. We headed off to the bathroom and touched up our makeup and fixed our hair a bit after all that dancing. Once we were finished  we made our way back over to the bar for more drinks.

After a few minutes of waiting, we finally got our drinks, but Olivia got pulled away to dance with some guy.  I felt someone tap my shoulder, I turned and saw him it was Caleb. He looked better then I could have even imagined. He leaned over and whispered “You look breathtaking.” I looked away blushing. “Thank you, you look nice as well.” I said shyly. Within seconds Ms. Blonde b***s McGee came and pulled Caleb to the dance floor. I was standing there for a few minutes and then Olivia came back, telling me about the guy she danced with.

I felt another tap on my shoulder and heard “I thought you said you were bringing someone beautiful.” Caleb said with a smirk. I looked at him getting angry and said ”I did , don’t you dare insult her.” Before I could say anything else I heard “Hello Caleb, found any new victims of your charm tonight?” Olivia said to Caleb.” Wait how do you guys know each other?” I asked them both. “He’s my brother.” Olivia said. Oh no Mr. handsome is my roommate’s brother.

Chapter 3 " The fair.

I woke up with the sun shining bright in my room, way to bright. I guess this is what a hangover feels like. I don’t even remember getting home. How did I get here into my bed, and in my favorite Hello Kitty PJ’s? I’ve never actually been drunk before but Caleb made it his goal last night to get me there. I have to admit though I had a blast. Caleb is so much fun, and he says the funniest things.I can’t believe he’s Olivia’s brother. I can’t keep thinking about him, but I can’t stop thinking about him. He’s not only one cocky dude, but he’s my roommate’s brother. Off limits I thought to myself, and I’d made my mind up right then and there to stop thinking about Caleb Mr. Handsome Harris.

When I walked out of my room I smelled breakfast, and it smelled divine I was honestly famished after last nights outing. I walked over to the kitchen to find Caleb cooking breakfast in his boxers. I scanned his body from bottom to top, the muscles, and his tan skin. Could he be more delicious? I thought to myself. “See something you like?” Caleb said smirking at me. “Nope.” I replied and walked over to sit down at the table. “Breakfast smells delicious, is it almost done?” I asked. “Yes, it is. I figured you would need a nice fried breakfast this morning after your first night of being drunk.”

“Speaking of how did I get home? Why are you here? And where is Olivia?” I asked him. “Olivia is still sleeping in her room; she was very drunk last night as well. I drove you both home, I carried you inside because you were passed out cold. I stayed over because I didn’t feel like driving home.” He answered simply. “And would you like to explain how I ended up in my PJ’s?”

“I figured you wouldn’t want to sleep in that tight little dress of yours, so I changed you.”

“YOU DID WHAT? What the heck Caleb, did you get a good peek?” I asked quite annoyed.

“Relax Gabs I wasn’t trying to do anything inappropriate, I was just helping.” He said calmly. “Well um thanks I guess for last night and breakfast.”

“My pleasure Gabs, now go wake up Olivia breakfast is getting cold.”

“Sure thing boss man.” I said laughing and walking away.

After 20 minutes of fighting Olivia to get out of bed, we finally sat down to eat breakfast. Caleb made us pancakes, bacon, eggs, and cut up some fresh fruit. It was so good, it definitely hit the spot for a hangover breakfast. “So Liv have you talked to mom since you started this semester?” Caleb asked Olivia. “Yes, I went to lunch with her the other day. Have you?” she replied. “Yeah, she gave me the whole lecture on finding a good girl and settling down speech.” I found myself thinking about how lucky that girl would be to wake up next to him every morning. He would probably make some gorgeous kids. I shook away the thoughts, just friends. “Do either of you guys have class today?” I asked them. “Nope, I just need to get shower I feel gross.” Olivia said. “Same here.” Caleb replied. “We should all get ready; I saw they have a fair going on the next town over. I want to go, and you guys should come too.”

“I’m in.” They both said at the same time. “Ok, lets all get ready and meet back here in like 2 hours. You should invite your other brother I’d really like to meet him, can you call him Caleb?” “Jake’s got classes all day today. Maybe he can come over one night this week for dinner.” He replied. “Ok sure, talk to him and I’ll make dinner for everyone.” I said walking into my room.

I decided to just throw my hair up into a messy bun, throw on my used t-shirt my favorite band, my favorite pair of jeans, and my black converses. I was almost ready when I heard my phone beep for a received text message. I opened it, and saw it was from Caleb.

‘Hey Gabs, I can’t wait to go with you to the fair. I knew you couldn’t resist my charm ;)’

Is this guy serious? It’s not just us going; he would make it sound like a date.

I flipped my phone back open to respond.

‘Caleb, I’m still immune to your so called charm. ‘

I smiled and shut the phone.  I walked out into the living room to sit and wait for them to be ready, but Caleb was already sitting there. “You look cute Gabs.” Caleb said.

“Thanks Caleb, you look nice too.” I said sitting down. “What’s your favorite animal?” he asked me. “Um a manatee why?” I looked at him questioningly. “If they have one at the fair I’m going to win it for you, that’s why.”

“That’s not necessary Caleb thanks for the thought though.” I said smiling at him. Olivia came out and said “let’s go you guys I’m ready to get on some rides!”  She said while waving us towards the door.

We pulled up and it took us 20 minutes just to find parking, I was the first night and it was packed. We finally got out and made our way up to the ticket line Caleb bought us all tickets and said it was his treat. I started to get so excited I love fairs and carnivals.

We made our way over to the first ride, and a guy came up to Olivia and asked to speak with her. “Whose that guy?” I asked Caleb. “Her ex boyfriend, his name is Carter. He broke her heart when he moved away, and she never talks about him.” He replied. Olivia headed back over to us while Carter stood to the side.

“Guys I’m going to spend some time with Carter, do you mind?” She asked. “No, go ahead sweetie, have fun.” I said smiling at her. Caleb eyed up Carter, almost like warning him ’hurt my sister and I’ll kill you’.

“Looks like it’s just you and me Gabs. Want to play some games?” he asked.

“Sure, I hope you know you’re going down buddy!” I said pushing him to the side.

“We’ll see about that princess, care to make a little bet?”

“Sure what are your terms?” “If I win you go on a date with me.” He said with a huge grin. “And if I win you are my slave for a whole week, no questions asked.” I said smiling back at him. “You’re on!” he said shaking my hand, to seal the deal.

We walked around trying to find the perfect game, and finally he stopped. He found the game that had a manatee. I had to admit I found it really sweet. We walked up to the water gun game and found our spots. “I have one question Caleb.” I said. “What’s that?” he replied. “Are you ready to become my slave? I’m thinking I might have you even wear a naughty little maid outfit.” I said with an evil grin. “You’re going down Gabs.”  Then the game started, I kept up for a while, but in the end Caleb won. He did a happy jig all around me. How ridiculous I thought to myself. He got me the manatee, then leaned over and kissed my cheek. I smiled at him, no wonder all the girl fall for him. He can really be so sweet. “Guess this means I get my date, I’m thinking I want YOU in the naughty little maid costume.” He said smiling at me. “You got your date, don’t push it pal!” I said raising an eyebrow at him.

We went on every single ride, and were having the best time. I noticed he wasn’t acting cocky and I actually enjoyed his company. We save the Ferris wheel for last because it’s my favorite. We climbed on and instead of sitting across from me, he sat beside me. “It’s a beautiful night isn’t it?” I asked him. I looked over at him, and he was staring at me. “More beautiful then I ever imagined.” He said. I started to blush knowing he was talking about me, and looked down. “Gabriella can we have our date Saturday?”  “Yeah, Saturday would be great.” I wonder how Olivia is going to feel about this? It’s not like it will actually go anywhere, he’s a manwhore who can’t his pants zipped, and I’m not sleeping with him. It will be a nice night and that will be the end of that.

“What are you daydreaming about Gabs?” He said “Nothing much, just thinking about how fun tonight has been.” I said smiling at him. “Yeah it has been, especially when I annihilated you on the water gun game.” He said smiling and winking at me.

When the ride came to a stop, we noticed Olivia and Carter standing there kissing. “Looks like someone else is having a good night.” I said looking up at Caleb. We walked up to them and I introduced myself to Carter.

“Hey Caleb, can you bring Gabs back to our place? I’m going to be staying with Carter tonight.” Olivia said. “Sure, I need the keys.” He responded.

After saying our goodbyes we went looking for the car parked in east jabip. When we finally got there Caleb opened the door for me, I smiled sweetly at him and climbed in.

While we were driving home we started fighting over the controls on the radio, and eventually he let me win. “Gabs?” he said, “Yeah Caleb?” I replied. “There is something different about you, I can’t explain it. I just feel like I need to be around you. It’s freaking me out a little bit; I’ve never felt this way before about anyone.” He said honestly.

“You probably say that very line to all the girls; I have to admit it’s a good one.” I said. We pulled up to the apartment; he looked over at me with sadness in his eyes. “I’ll see you in class tomorrow Gabs.”

“Ok see you tomorrow Caleb, thank you so much for tonight.”

“You’re welcome, goodnight.”

“Night.” I said walking up to the door.

Man if I didn’t know he was a player, I would have thought he actually liked me. Tonight just proves we have to be friends. We have way to much fun together to mess up our friendship. Why does that make me feel sad at the same time?

Chapter 4- Jealousy

I woke up feeling good, and couldn’t wait to see how my other classes would be. I had to get up pretty early this morning because my first class was at 10, and my second was at 2. I grabbed an apple and headed out, and of course stopped to get a coffee. Once I got to class I sat down and started to get my things out, then a guy I’d never seen before came up and sat next to me. “Hey I’m Gabe Ryan, and I know like literally no one in this class, do you mind if I sit next to you?” he said smiling. “No I don’t mind, I don’t know anyone in this class either.  I’m Gabriella Dixon.” I replied to him. We spent the rest of class similar to my other two classes. I could feel Gabe checking me out throughout the whole class though, he didn’t even try to hide it. As class was getting over I was going to meet Olivia in the cafeteria for lunch.

“Gabriella wait up!” Gabe yelled. “What’s up Gabe?”

“Are you going to the party tomorrow night at the Kappa’s house?”

“I hadn’t planned on it since I don’t know anyone. Why? Are you going?”

“Yes I’m in that fraternity. Would you like to come with me? “He asked me while putting his sunglasses on.

“Can I bring my roommate? I don’t want to go by myself.”

“Yes, as long as you promise me a dance.”

“Sure. See ya later Gabe.”

I walked into the cafeteria, and grabbed my food. I went over and sat next to Olivia.

“Why were you just walking with Gabe Ryan?” Olivia asked while picking at her food

“He asked me to go to the Kappa’s party tomorrow.”

“He did? Oh my God! Gabby he is gorgeous. Are you going?” I guess he’s good looking; he’s no Caleb though I thought to myself.

“Well only if you come with me. I don’t know anyone but Gabe, and I barely know him. Plus we will be late anyway. Tomorrow night is dinner with your brother’s, remember?”

“Oh yeah, well yeah sure I’ll go with you. I’m bringing Carter though.” She said matter of factly.

“That’s fine I think Gabe thinks it’s a date, but he didn’t officially ask me for anything but a dance. Oh I wanted to ask you, what’s up with you and Carter? Caleb told me what happened between you two.”

“He just moved back, he transferred to Princeton, so now he goes to school with my brother Jake. He thought I would sill be mad so he didn’t call when he first got back. He said when he saw me he had to come up to me. She said looking so happy. I’m glad he did, cuz we got back together! She said in her usual excited voice.

“That’s awesome Olivia, congrats girl!” I said honestly.

Before I knew it I was plopping down in my seat for my next class, pulling out my laptop that’s mandatory for this class. Then I smelled that cologne. I heard a chair scoot next to me. “Hello princess, have you missed me?” Caleb said while chewing on his pen cap.

“Nope, But it looks like b***s McGee does.” I said laughing and nodding my head, towards a very unhappy looking Malibu Barbie. “She’s so annoyingly persistent.” He said clearly feeling irritated. I started to giggle and faced forward. Class was quick, it seemed like the professor was in a rush. He handed out all our paperwork asked if we had questions and dismissed us.

“Grab coffee with me Gabs.” Caleb said.

“Ok I don’t have any plans tonight except getting the food for dinner tomorrow, want to come with me to the store after coffee?”

“Yeah, sounds like a plan. Let’s take my car.” He said.

“Ok.”

We headed to the coffee shop, and got our regular coffee’s we like, and decided to go to the park down the street. Caleb likes to people watch as well. We sat in comfortable silence, and just enjoyed each others company. I feel like I’m really starting to like Caleb, and it’s scaring me. I’ve never experienced any feelings like this, and I decide to go and start liking the guy who will sleep with anything in a skirt with a pulse. “Gabs want me to come and help you cook dinner tomorrow? I don’t have any classes and figured I’d do my homework on Saturday before our date. So I’m free” He said.

“Sure, if you don’t mind. Oh are you going to the Kappa party tomorrow night?” I said taking the last sip of my coffee and throwing it into the trash.

“Yeah I asked Jake to go with me. Are you going?” He replied

“Yeah with Olivia and Carter. Are you ready to head to the store?” I asked him.

“Yeah, come on.” And he grabbed my hand and stood me up.

We went to the store and grabbed everything we needed. We decided to make breaded pork chops, baked mac n cheese, and green beans. We got back to the apartment, and Caleb carried up all the bags for me. We walked in to find Olivia and Carter making out on the couch. Caleb cleared his throat loudly, and they sat up looking quite embarrassed.

“Hey guys want to grab some beers from the store and have a game night?” I asked everyone.

All at once I hear “Yeah” “Sure” and “you’re going down princess.” I can’t help but giggle.

After getting back from the store, we all decided on playing truth or dare. Classic getting drunk and stupid game.

“I’ll go first. Olivia truth or dare?”

“Truth.”

“Have you ever done anything illegal?”

“Yes one time I ran a red light.” She said laughing.

“Ok, Caleb Truth or dare?” Olivia asked.

“Dare”

“I dare you to eat an entire jar of pickles.” She said giggling.

“Easy.” He said. He went into the kitchen and started eating all the pickles, after 5 minutes he was done.

“Okay, my turn to ask someone. Gabs truth or dare?”

“Truth”

“How old were you when you lost your virginity?”

I gulped and looked up at everyone waiting for my answer. “Um I’m still a virgin.” I said honestly. Caleb looked at me with shock then his eyes changed to what looked like admiration.

“I already went. You can go Carter.” I said

“Ok Caleb, truth or dare?”

“Dare”

“I dare you to go have 7 minutes in heaven with Gabby in her room.”

He looked over at me, and gave me an ‘I’m sorry’ look. I got up and grabbed his hand

“Come on let’s go,” and led him into the room. Once he closed the door he sat next to me on the bed. “You don’t really have to kiss me if you don’t want to.” He said not looking at me.

”A dare is a dare Caleb, but I might be bad at it.” I said. He looked at me and cupped my face in his hands and said “That’s not possible Gabs.”

And he kissed me. It was sweet and soft and everything I’d ever imagined for a first kiss. It felt like a wave of electricity went through my body and I never wanted it to end, but it did. He pulled away slowly not taking his eyes off of me.

“Was I bad?”I asked looking at him.

“That was perfect Gabs, perfect. You act like you’ve never kissed anyone before.” He said.

“That’s because I haven’t Caleb, that was my first kiss.” I said honestly.

He looked at me and smiled “You did great.”

When we walked out everyone was pretty much ready to be done and I was exhausted. We decided to call it a night. I went to bed dreaming of those soft lips, I was falling for Caleb there was not doubt about it.

The next day flew by; Caleb came and helped me cook. Of course we had fun just cooking, he can make anything fun. Before we knew it dinner was ready and we were expecting Jake to get there. Seconds later we heard the knock on the door. Caleb answered and led him in. I heard them whispering and laughing, and Caleb playfully punched Jake in the arm. They were so cute together. It was obvious they were fraternal twins and not identical. They had similarities but Caleb was definitely the better looking brother.

“Hey Jake I’m Gabriella, or Gabs as I’m sure you’ve heard.” I said smiling sweetly at

him.

“Hey Gabs, Thanks for having me for dinner. I’ve been dying to meet the girl who’s caught my brother’s eye, and my sister’s new best friend.” He said.

Dinner was going well, everyone was getting along and Caleb and I did a great job.

“So Gabs are you ready for your dance with Gabe tonight? The dress you picked for the party he won’t be able to keep his hands off of you.” Olivia said

“Wait Gabe Ryan?” Caleb asked.

“Yup, he asked Gabs to go.” Olivia replied.

Caleb picked up his plate, and started scraping it into the trash. He looked furious and started slamming around the dishes. What’s his problem, I wondered. He didn’t come back to the table. Caleb and Jake left shortly after that. So me and Olivia started to get ready for the party. Once we were ready we decided to take her car to head over there. She looked stunning she was wearing a pink flowy dress that showed of just enough cleavage with silver stilettos. I wore a tight navy blue dress with rhinestones on the top also sporting silver stilettos.

“ I think Caleb likes you, Gabs.” Olivia said.

“Really? I don’t think so. You said it yourself he doesn’t do the girlfriends thing.”

“I see how you two look at each other. Didn’t you notice how jealous he got when i brought up Gabe?” She said

“I knew something was wrong I didn’t know it was that. I guess I like him, I just didn’t know how you would feel, and I don’t want him to hurt me, I’m scared.” I said honestly.

“Let’s not worry about it right now. Let’s go party.” She said getting excited.

We walked in and the party was going full swing. We walked over to the Keg and got a beer. We walked back out into the living room, and I saw the last thing I expected.

Caleb making out with b***s McGee. I stood in place for what felt like years. I guess this is what heartbreak feels like. I looked at Olivia as my tears started to well up in my eyes, and told her I needed to go. As I walked out I looked over and Caleb spotted me, it was obvious he noticed I was crying. I just ignored him and walked out. Well looks like tonight I’ll be crying myself to sleep, and he can forget about that date tomorrow.
