Owl Savior

Owl Savior

A Poem by Amanda
"

Written for an old friend who died last year on July 7th.

"
Billy.
We miss you,
You left so soon.
I know you died with grace,
And probably with another beer case.
All for those owls, who couldn't leave,
So instead, you got crushed by a tree.
Billy.
We miss you

so horribly sad.

First read - I too did not get it. I thought Billy was an owl crushed by the tree. It was good to have the explanation afterwards - the poem is simply crafted and leaves one feeling sad over the loss. I like the title and the last line - unique style.

Yikes . . . if it means anything, my condolances. Logging is a very dangerous job.
That's so sad :( I like these lines the most: All for those owls, who couldn't leave,
So instead, you got crushed by a tree.
