Too..

Too..

A Poem by Raylene

Too young to know things at 19.
Too pretty to be single.
Too smart to be foolish.
Too kind for my own good.
Too beautiful not to smile.

Too wise to ignore the truth.
Too young to know what I want.
Too harsh on the young.
Too forgiving.

I am many things.
You can judge me on that.
I will not mind, I heard it all before.
I however know my flaws and my strengths.
I still will climb out of bed ready to face the day.

This is awesome! I can definitely relate to parts of it. When people can't believe that you'd make a mistake because you're "really smart" - guess what? We're all human! And all the lines about being "too young" to understand certain things or to have legitimate feelings. Young people can hurt just as much as anyone else. We all bleed the same color. Excellent work!

Thank you Alicia I'm practicing my poetry I'm a tad rusty still
Oh, Raylene!
This is special … sooo very special; I can't help but wonder if you really know how much?
It is a genuine pleasure to find one of the rare individuals still out there whom have the wherewithal, the humility, the consciousness to perceive their self with the clarity and honesty you have shared with us here.
From the imagery and emotion dancing throughout your words is revealed the amazing treasure of a human being you truly are … one whom anyone would be lucky to embrace as friend, lover, and/or soulmate.
Not only are you a splendid poetess, you are a brilliantly unique person … you've no idea how very much you make me wish I were 19 again!

"Shine-on, Girl, and never let anyone dim your sparkling glow!"
My warmest, coziest, most grateful hug of sincere thanks for sharing You with Us, Raylene ⁓ Richard

On, sure thing!
Raylene darling, this world takes us girls for granted.
they often think of us as all the same.
be extraordinary just the way you want.
i believe in you ;)

everyone always seems to think they know us best and im certain that counts for some boys as well.
my family only recently been told that I wish to become a published author, none of them believe in me.

also, this makes me think of the relationship i have with my stepmother who thought it was funny to tell me i could not possibly be depressed when i was 16. now 10 years later anxiety still has a hold on me, and depression is something i live with, it does get easier but it will always come back

this poem speaks to me because ive been treated like this myself. you rock
