An Ordinary Day

An Ordinary Day

A Poem by Suzanne Deakins
"

yeah well it hurt...

"

An Ordinary Day

It feels like a rather ordinary day.

Nothing wonderful just the usual day

An ordinary day

Soft hazy fog floating through the trees

Saturday morning noises dampened

Nothing urges me on

Rolling to my side I reached for you

Your back moves from my touch

Shoulders shrugging you take a deep breath

Smells of last nights dinner float

And thoughts of unfinished chores arise

Nothing seems finished this morning

Dread rises into my throat and

Tears sting my eyes

I had almost forgotten what day this was

For three years we danced and laughed

Made love when we could

You told me I had changed you

Tears stream down my cheeks

My heart feels numb and dead

This is no ordinary day

My mind has a dozen reasons for you to stay

But it will do no good

You are going today

How civilized we are

Packing your belongings into the car

Do you have enough towels?

Tears race down my throat

Forcing a smile I hand you another pillow

Checking through the house for anything left

Boxes packed

Strained goodbyes said

I want to throw rocks at you

Instead I go back into our home

To live another ordinary day

Suzanne- you have a nice style and flow- this is heartfully projected- describing the lonely details
of an ordinary day- an average day- where tears flows as common as the wind blows- describing a

relationship gone the way of goodbyes- as memories surface- flooding the emotions with sadness,
sometimes all one can do is go with the current- when the current has consuming power all its own.

I really enjoyed reading this, as well as the skill put forth, keep up the good work.

this is wonderfully impassioned and heartfelt yes. I loved your wording... when there is goodbye, it is the polarized incompetence to change things - what makes us hysterically crying... and feeling this heavy heart... loved it. thank you also for reviewing my poem. lara gandr
