"Pack It Up"

"Pack It Up"

A Poem by Rain Kettle

A man in an alley watching his shadow
An eclipsed moonbeam and a monochrome rainbow
Seeing reflections no matter where he goes
And he packs it on up and goes home

He's got memories and white walls
Full of cobwebs and black nightfalls
That were without stars despite all
The nights he sat up

He has quiet mornings and breakfast
And is thinking about out west
So the conclusion that suits best
Is to pack it up

A man with no loved ones and a mission
Who knows where it ends and can't help but wishing
That one day he'll find that one soul that will listen
Before he packs it on up and goes home
