misery loves company, so we shake hands

misery loves company, so we shake hands

A Chapter by TLK

I expect God to be angry with me;
for He must know that I am angry with myself.
I want his righteous indignation to join with mine,
to consume me,
offer up sweet savour to our LORD.

But perhaps it is more Adonis than ADONAI that I seek,
some bronzed impossibility leering cheekily from the sky,
telling me that my way out of shame is to live grandly,
like Hercules,
strangling snakes from birth,
enraged by my enemies to murder my own kin,
suffering punishments,
ultimately coming out a tragic hero.

Yet,
coming back to the ground,
I am the only one here.

And the story I have to tell
is short indeed.

And the myth that I create
is mundane.

Author's Note

TLK
Inspired by New York, authored by Sam:
I pray in halting short triumphs of composition; "Hold on to the ground" "Their happiness plus mine" "No hard hearts, my heart" "Forgive me for not being better" "Forgive me for hating him" "Forgive me for loving him" "Heal me" "Manifest." "Real." "Love." "Please remember me."

forty years ago in one welling moment i realized that a few human beings live very large lives (Socrates, and his cousins across space and time) while the mass of us live lives in varying shades of desperation...the punch line was that i was living a small flat life...i set out to change that

humbled that you used part of my work as inspiration and awed by your ability to symbiotically invoke in me, (in reading it), the static, stoic emotion I felt at the moment while also creating something feeling infinitely universal...
