The Revolutionaries' Nursery Rhyme

The Revolutionaries' Nursery Rhyme

A Poem by Alvin L. Kathembe
"

Tongue-in-cheek...

"

We are the change! We are the change!

Like when at the shop we give too much money

The land now overflows with tears

We’ll change that to milk and honey!

Hurrah! Hurrah!

The joyful sound

Revolution makes the earth go round!

We need the change! We need the change!

Like a baby who’s just wet his nappy

We’ll turn their frowns right upside down

And change them from sad to happy!

Hurrah! Hurrah!

The joyful noise

Revolution brings a new season of joy!

We’ll bring the change! We’ll bring the change!

Like the shopkeeper just rushing out -

We’re the fingers down the system’s throat

That makes the rot come flushing out!

Hurrah! Hurrah!

The children sing;

Revolution! Revolution we bring!

What a combination! Childish yet aimed toward young adults and adults! If only the generations grew up hearing this...
Another great job!
