153

A Poem by T.S. Ulmus

One hundred and fifty three;
numbers can seem so rigid.
So how can it possibly be
it's the sum of the cubes of its digits?
Or add the factorials one through five,
To much amazement you will see
(Though admittedly you must strive)
the sum of the products is one-five-three.
And, if you decided to be keen
combining the numbers additionally,
all the wholes one to seventeen,
you would arrive at the number
one fifty three.

Author's Note

T.S. Ulmus
153= 1^3+5^3+3^3= 1!+2!+3!+4!+5!= 1+2+3+... 17. (No number is the sum of the square of its digits)

When I was a horny young nymphomaniac going to UCSB (Santa Barbara), a mathematician who was also a bicyclist snagged my fancy for a bit & one time he even rode his bike from SB to where I grew up & was visiting my parents during some school break (about 200 miles one way). This guy had the most delicious a*s & scrumptious thighs from all that bike riding, but his head was so deep in a mathematical cloud, I never did manage to get him to loosen up & run naked with me thru the Big Sur forests. Ever since then, I've been wary of bicycling mathematicians who seem to be wound a little too tight *wink! wink!* Fondly, Margie

Thank you for your read. Numbers are magical and sometimes magic involves toes.
You wrote a poem about math! Now I've read everything lol. I never even thought of this and you did it so very well. Nice write. tyfs

1+2+3+... 17

17-1=16 16/2=8 8x17=136 136+17=153 or n/2 x n+1 = sum of the integers between 0 and n ( for odd numbers subtract n and add it back ) hence the sum of integers 0 to 10 = 55 as (1+10)5 =55 or for 11 say 55+11 to yield 66 Thus an addition of numbers in a series can easily be done mentally or for ginormous numbers with only a few calculator strokes.

Arithmetic is my top level. But, it fascinates me as a shiny object attracts a crow.
