Springsteen and Prince

Springsteen and Prince

A Poem by TTBoy28

He danced

Though you wouldn’t know it

He sang with doves

Then rocked so he wouldn’t blow it

When many had named him

The Boss

Others found royalty

Far from being

Little Boy Blue

Sudden case of “Who knew”

Even with a coin toss

there was true loyalty

Performed for the masses

Colleges even taught classes

Although one did it in the dark

Punks wore heels in the park

I know some things in life

may not make sense

One thing’s for sure

You can always rely on

Springsteen and Prince

One was better known

as the working man’s man

Who could deny

being a fan

The other gave more than

his share of flair

With a twist and

pull of his slick, coiffed hair

Women fell at his feet

They all played dress up

just to meet

With a guitar in hand

They controlled the band

Became more than

a household name

in spite of all

the talent and the fame

I know some things in life

may not make sense

One thing’s for sure

You can always rely on

Springsteen and Prince

First to win a

major award

First to be blamed

for praising the good Lord

Slave written on his face

Brought shame and some disgrace

Sexy M.F.

Green eyes chin with a cleft

Made it to MTV

Paved the way so

they could be free

Made it to the

Oscar party

Because of Philadelphia

had more than Bacardi

The Glory Days

had just begun

while girls kept wanting to

have fun

Chilling singing ballads

They came running

after salads

Famous for making the

Horn blow

One listen and

they all would know

I know some things in life

may not make sense

One thing’s for sure

You can always rely on

Springsteen and Prince
