Life's Auditions

Life's Auditions

A Poem by TTBoy28

I must have auditioned for this life

I know I must have

Because I tried different parts

Different roles

Until I was perfect for one

The many casting couches

I must have christened or

that christened me

they surely are still there

Though I do not know

who tired first

or wore out their welcome

I accepted awards for my performances

Mostly major ones

Otherwise for supporting

My payment never exceeded itself

Though sell-out I did

to remain viable and maintain

yet raising ire of my fans

Still, who grew tired first

Then, while I have found complacency

I find myself repeatedly casted

And no longer interested in auditioning

for a behind the scenes director

for the role of a lifetime
