An Absentee Dad

An Absentee Dad

A Poem by TTBoy28

Of all the things

I never had

Came in the form

Of an absentee Dad

When I wanted

 to throw a ball

I was haunted

Playing catch in the hall

When it came time

To learn to ride a bike

The Boy Scouts and

I took a hike

Mama tried to

Keep me so glad

She did her best

Inspite of an absentee dad

All around the birds

And then again the bees

Everyone avoided using words

That even confused trees

On my way

Becoming a man

No time to play

Would my kid understand

Mama tried to

Keep me so glad

She did her best

Inspite of an absentee dad

Dress for the Prom

Best done with Mom

But how much force

Is needed for the course

Time to marry

Did I ever tarry

Will the Rabbi see through me

Or am I just too blind to see

But Mom was there

And my family is so glad

Still my reason to care

Blood flows from my absentee dad
